NORTHERN ENGLAND

Northern England offers some of the most renowned beaches in the United Kingdom, not just because of their beauty and varied topography, but also because of the entertainment facilities that accompany them. If you have young children (or are still a kid at heart), you can’t fail to be tempted by the multitude of activities available along the shore line ñ activity parks, amusement arcades and promenades are just a few of the many activities you can try while holidaying.

Blackpool has long been a favourite seaside resort area, and its popularity is set to continue with the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Zoo and Dinosaur Safari, Blackpool Tower and Circus, and the Sandcastle Waterpark providing year-round fun for all ages. Due to the huge influx of tourists visiting Blackpool in the summer months, there are a large number of hotels and resort-style accommodation available that are perfect for families (and many offer family package deals).

Another fantastic place to visit for its large number of Blue Flag rated beaches is Yorkshire. Aside from the incredibly popular Scarborough, Yorkshire also offers Bridlington North, Filey, Hornsea, and Whitby West Cliff beaches, amongst others. Scarborough itself has a number of great beach locations, and also has some great fun parks and educational centres, such as Lunar Park and the Sea Life Centre, to keep the kids entertained on those hot summer days.

If Scarborough and Blackpool are too busy for your liking, you may also consider Beadnell, Ainsdale, and Cleethorpes Central beaches.  All three are popular, and are good for water sports and swimming, but may have a smaller amount of visitors in the summer months than their northern rivals.
